On Monday, April 30, fourth and fifth form students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from more than 30 colleges and universities in the lobby of the Center For The Arts. Students were able to speak individually with admission representatives from each institution to learn more about their school and received information packets.
The reality that sixth form year is just around the corner began to set in for fifth form students on Tuesday evening when they were fitted for their sixth form blazers in the Map Room of the Academic Center.
A handful of students participating in the Green Initiative attended the Montgomery County Envirothon, where they were able to do a number of hands-on activities with local Game and Park Management Rangers.
On Friday, members of The Hill School’s Music Department traveled to Hershey, Pa. to compete in the “Music in the Parks Festival.” Thirty-six different high school music groups from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and New Jersey competed in the festival. All three Hill ensembles - Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Mixed Chorus/Glee Club (Choir) - earned first place in their respective categories. Even more impressive is that Hill brought home two “Superior” ratings (Orchestra and Choir) and one “Excellent” rating (Jazz Ensemble).
The week concluded with the Mr. Hill competition on Sunday evening in the CFTA theatre in an event sponsored by the sixth form. Ten sixth form boys vied for the title of “Mr. Hill” by competing in a variety of competitions. Each contestant was judged by a panel comprised of faculty and student judges, and the winner received an Xbox 360.
