|
| The first week of school was a busy, exciting week on campus. On Monday afternoon, new students met their Big Brothers and Big Sisters, who will help them acclimate to the School throughout the year. The 2011-12 school year officially began Monday evening with the Convocation ceremony. Sixth-form President Raye Sosseh ’12 addressed the student body with a lively talk that was followed by sixth form student leaders performing a creative rap song outlining the School’s rules, and Headmaster Dougherty's beginning of the year talk. Tuesday was the first day of classes and seated meals in the Dining Hall; following dinner, members of the sixth form and faculty gathered for the first faculty coffee of the year. The traditional Honor Code ceremony was held on Wednesday during school meeting period. Members of the Honor Council addressed their respective forms on the importance of honor and integrity and outlined the School’s Honor Code. Prior to the conclusion of the ceremony, every student signed their form’s Honor Code book acknowledging their acceptance of the School's honor policy. The week concluded with a fun carnival on Saturday night that offered a variety of activities for students to enjoy. |
