The Hill-Charterhouse group
On Sunday, October 30, 12 Hill students faced off against 12 students from the Charterhouse School in Godalming, England in a bongo-board balancing contest as part of the ninth-annual Hill-Charterhouse Challenge. There were three different competitions in the contest, with one point going to the school that won each contest.
After a warm-up period that allowed each team to get acclimated to a bongo-board, the two schools squared off against each other to see which school could accumulate the highest team time (a three-minute maximum balance per student) before having a head-to-head contest. In the head-to-head contest, each school ranked their bongo-boarders from lowest to highest based on their time in the first round, and each school's comparable rank faced off against each other in a first-to-fall-loses contest.
A unique distraction was added for the final round - competitors had to try and knock the other competitor off of his or her bongo-board while shooting Nerf guns at each other. Hill took the victory in each contest to win the Challenge 3-0.
Special thanks to Hill faculty members Mr. Ryck Walbridge and Mr. Luke Block for organizing the event.
