The team on the USNA campus
Hill (7-2) capped a fun weekend in Annapolis with a win over the USNA JV squad. Playing in front of his future coaching staff at the Academy, Jerome Alexander paced Hill with a game-high 20 points, including three three-pointers and an emphatic dunk late that helped Hill punctuate the victory. Alexander also snared 12 boards and took two charges, in a fine all-around performance. Fellow sixth former John Moran was also sharp, connecting on 5-6 three point attempts to add an efficient 15 points to the cause.
Hill jumped to an early 11-4 lead and maintained the lead throughout the half, managing the 40-minute contest (college game rules) by playing all 12 Hill boys in uniform in the opening half. At the half, Hill led 31-29. A strong run to start the second half put Hill ahead by ten points and another run later in the half put the Pottstownians ahead 49-35. Navy would not go away and pushed their deficit back to single digits several times before the final buzzer sounded with Hill ahead by the final margin of 66-60.
After a fun night in Annapolis that included taking in an exciting Navy vs Lafayette Patriot League game, Hill got a tour of the famed campus Sunday morning before their game. All the boys appreciated the opportunity to be together and to witness one of our nation’s most prestigious institutions. It is an experience they will not soon forget. Thanks to all who helped make the weekend possible. Hill now turns its attention to the start of its league slate, as the Blue travel to face rival Lawrenceville Wednesday at 4:30pm.
