The final week before students departed for the holiday vacation was full of holiday spirit. On Tuesday, December 13, the School community gathered for the annual holiday seated dinner which was followed by the sixth form Christmas sing-a-long. During the sing-a-long, the entire sixth form joins the faculty in the Saunders room to sing Christmas carols; this year, the sixth formers gathered by dormitory halls to sing different verses of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” There also was an open house in Dutch Village on Tuesday night. Open houses allow students the opportunity for co-ed visitation in the hosting dorm and always have a theme – of course, the theme for this open house was the holiday season.
Students departed for the holiday vacation on Thursday, but the boys’ varsity basketball team remained on campus for the 42nd annual Mercer Invitational Basketball Tournament, which was held December 16-18. The Hill made an exciting run to the championship game, but unfortunately fell short against a very talented New Hampton School.
The Hill is on holiday break through Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Classes resume on Wednesday, January 4.
