Kate Ferrara ‘12 spent her winter break in Scotland playing indoor field hockey for the USA. Last April, she was selected to be part of a 31-member Junior Women’s National Team. After a series of practices and tryouts, she was named to the 12-member travel squad. Over the break, the squad participated in the Grove Menzieshill Invitational Indoor Tournament in Dundee, Scotland. They were the only U19 team in attendance and competed against the Scottish, Welsh, and USA Women’s teams, as well as several premier Scottish women’s club teams. The USA U19 team came in fourth place overall, behind the USA women’s team. The team also had an opportunity to tour historic sites in St. Andrews and Edinburgh. The tournament served to prepare the girls for the 2013 Pan American Junior Indoor Cup.
"It was a tremendous honor to represent the United States at an international field hockey tournament," said Kate. "Playing at such a high level against older, more experienced players was invaluable for mydevelopment as a field hockey player and was a good step in my preparation to play at the collegiate level."
- Thank you to Mrs. Jennifer Ferrara P'10, 12 for providing the recap of Kate's experience.
