Hill School hosts fifth annual "Skate Against Cancer"

Students enjoy the fifth annual Skate Against Cancer

Under the leadership of Mary Edwards '12, Sydney Colaizzi '12, Sarah Allen '12, and Henry Lawrence '12, The Hill raised more than $1,600 at the fifth annual “Skate Against Cancer" fundraiser on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The money was collected just from the event including admission tickets, skate rentals, concessions, raffles, and t-shirt sales. The student’s faculty adviser, Instructor of English Courtney Neese, anticipates many more donations will come in which would bring the grand total to a couple more thousands of dollars. All proceeds from the event will benefit The American Cancer Society and the Pottstown area Relay for Life. View more photos here.

The students planned and orchestrated an evening that combined both fun and charity. Parents and other members of The Hill and Pottstown communities generously donated items and their time to help make the event a success. Pizza from Rocco’s, an autographed John LeClair photograph and hockey stick, and Exxon gas cards were some of the raffle prizes that were donated by parents.

Little Italy’s restaurant donated a gift certificate, and Hill’s Baking Club provided delicious baked goods. The Student Activities Office rented the skates for night, donated an iPod for the raffle, and supplied decorations and organizational support. Adam Harris ’13, who served as the DJ for the event, kept the crowd moving on the ice with upbeat music.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support this great event!
