The Boys’ Varsity Golf team will open the spring season with a roster that is nearly identical to that from the fall season in which the team posted a strong 7-2 record and finished second in the PAISAA championship. Six of the eight roster spots are occupied by players who qualified for the varsity team in the fall. The remaining spots will be occupied either by players moving up through the junior varsity program, or by those who have previously played spring golf.
The team is excited to resume its traditional rivalries with MAPL schools and to add some new schools to the schedule of competition. The season opens against The Hun School on March 28, and the team will host Brunswick in the home opener on March 31. Four of the team’s five April matches will be at Brookside C.C., making for a nice stretch at home during the heart of the season. The season concludes with three away matches at Friends Central, Lawrenceville, and Blair Academy.
Co- captains Scott McKean ’14 and Phil Bolinger ’14 will lead the team this spring. Post graduates Cooper Bleakie, Griffin Drury and Willie Baker, who were major contributors to the team’s success during the fall season, also return this spring along with Tyler Kang ’15, who will continue to make an impact as an underformer, ensuring that that team will remain strong in the future.
