On Tuesday, students taking a Studio Art class traveled to the GoggleWorks in Reading to take a tour of the factory and participate in art making. Students had the opportunity to participate in either a glass blowing or glass fusing workshop. That evening, students and faculty enjoyed the second dorm cookout of the spring on a beautiful evening and again took advantage of the nice weather to play games and enjoy each other’s company throughout campus.
The School concluded the week with a three-day
celebration of Earth Day from Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22. On Friday, The Hill community enjoyed a local meal procured from less than 150 miles from The Hill School. The meal was designed by Chef Leon Anton in order to highlight seasonal produce and locally produced proteins. On Saturday afternoon, a small group of students volunteered at Greener Partners’ Longview Farm in Collegeville, and on Saturday evening, The Green Initiative sponsored a showing of
Finding Nemo, which was used as a base for educating students about oceans and water. Despite Sunday’s rainy conditions, six students visited the Philadelphia Zoo to celebrate Earth Day.
