Support The Hill

The 1851 Society

Established in 2009, The 1851 Society recognizes individuals and organizations that have made leadership contributions to The Hill School during each fiscal year in support of The Hill Fund, the School's endowment, any of its endowed funds, or any capital project. We honor 1851 Society members annually at The 1851 Society events around the country.

Members of The 1851 Society are essential partners with The Hill’s dedicated faculty, staff, and administration in providing the financial and human capital needed to operate our outstanding School.

Special benefactors and visionaries of our great School, the members of The 1851 Society have chosen to make a significant financial investment in our important work. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you our new members and to our charter members who have sustained their membership in The 1851 Society.

If you have any questions about The 1851 Society, please contact Stacey Cole, Assistant Director of The Hill Fund & The 1851 Society, at scole@thehill.org or 610-705-1189.

The James V. Moffatt Society

Loyal, generous donors have, for 162 years at The Hill, fortified us financially and given us the resources to fulfill our mission every day. We could not do our important work without you and only in partnership can we prepare our students for excellence in college, careers and life.

In 2011, The Hill School established The James V. Moffatt Loyalty Society, which honored very special donors -alumni, parents and friends of the School - who have made gifts in support of The Hill Fund for at least five consecutive years. We thought it fitting to name our first-ever loyalty giving society after Jim Moffatt, or “JVM” as he was affectionately called by many, who served The Hill loyally for 42 years – first as assistant librarian and then as Assistant Headmaster for Advancement and Admission.Support The Hill Fund and begin a tradition of philanthropy.

The Matthew Meigs Society:

The Matthew Meigs Society was established to recognize and thank alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who have provided a charitable gift for The Hill School in their estate plans and their wills. The Hill School’s founder, The Reverend Matthew Meigs, envisioned an exemplary “family boarding school,” and The Matthew Meigs Society members play a critical role in keeping this vision secure. Planned gifts and bequests provide vital funds to strengthen and sustain The Hill School’s future, giving vitality and sustainability to our endowment and our capital and operating needs. Examples of planned gifts in this instance are naming The Hill as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy, a pension or 401(k) plan, an IRA and naming The Hill as a beneficiary within charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities.

For more information on The Meigs Society or establishing an estate gift to benefit you and The Hill School, please visit our Planned Giving section or contact Tim McKinley at tmckinley@thehill.org.
