Updated message concerning flu virus

Headmaster David R. Dougherty wishes to inform The Hill community that members of the Headmaster’s Council met today to review the ongoing swine flu situation in the nation and region.  The School administration receives information and advice from the School’s physician and director of the Health Center on an ongoing basis.  The Health Center continues to advise students on best practices in such situations, and urges all those interested in the School’s response to flu concerns to refer to Pandemic Preparedness.

To date, we have not postponed activities or limited travel for the weekend, but we will continue to monitor the situation closely.

In addition, the School is following the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and surveying our campus community to ask if individuals or immediate family members have traveled to Mexico during the past two months. This information will be shared with our Health Center so that we may be in touch with individuals in the event that exposure to swine flu may have occurred. This measure is merely a precaution in order to avoid the spread of this flu.

It is imperative that students and parents contact the Health Center with any confirmed cases as well as questions or concerns. The Health Center phone number is 610-705-1217.
