Former Hill lacrosse player triumphs

Former Hill lacrosse player, Ken Clausen ’06, is one of 13 college lacrosse players to be selected to try out for the 2010 U.S. Men’s Lacrosse Team which will compete at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships in Manchester, England from July 10-24, 2010. In total, 200 players submitted applications to be considered for tryouts; only 84 were selected.

Tryouts are scheduled for June 7-10, 2009, where the pool will be trimmed to 40 players who will compete in three training weekends during the fall of 2009. The final roster will then be cut to the FIL-mandated team size of 23 players.

Ken is #27 on the University of Virginia’s men’s lacrosse team and is ranked the top defenseman in the nation. This year he also received preseason first-team All-American and preseason First-Team All-ACC honors by Face-Off Yearbook. During the 2008 season Ken was a First-Team All-American, and led his team in ground balls (59) and caused turnovers (28). Ranked fifth nationally among close defensemen, Ken was a key element in victories against Stony Brook, Johns Hopkins, UMBC, and Maryland.

Congratulations, Ken, and good luck!
