| Football captains accept the Anniversary Cup!|
This weekend marked the 121st anniversary of the fifth oldest high school rivalry in the U.S. -- The Hill vs. Lawrenceville. After a wet and grey morning, the sun came out over Pottstown as the scores started coming in from games across campus and the varsity football team was shutting out Lawrenceville. The campus was buzzing with the news of five varsity wins and only two losses. Please visit the SCORES page to view results for all teams.
Marking the 106th game between the two schools, The Hill varsity football team dominated the field and held the Larries from scoring a single point. The team finished the season with a 26 to 0 victory. As Headmaster David Dougherty accepted the "Anniversary Cup" trophy, he remarked to the team and the fans, "Whether you win or lose, the game has been memorable...Today you did it right again!"
Over at Brookside Country Club, the girls' cross country team celebrated a win over L'Ville with 22 Hill runners to Lawrenceville's five. Hill runners Rich Lafferty '09 and Tyler Mueller '10 helped bring the boys' team to victory, placing first and second, respectively.
On the Far Fields, the varsity field hockey team shut out L'Ville with a 4 to 0 win, earning Hill a MAPL championship title. In the pool, the girls' varsity water polo team kept the excitement going from the boys' win on Wednesday, and outscored L'Ville 7 to 2.
On the track field, the boys' and girls' varsity soccer teams fought hard in their final games for the season, despite the loss for each team. The final boys' score was 0-2 and the girls' score was 0-3.
