"Lawrenceville week at The Hill is known to most of the students as the best week! Talk of Lawrenceville on sports teams, in the dorm, at lunch or throughout the day can be heard earliest during pre-season for fall sports. This is the week that the School gets dress-down days to go all out in support of our foes as well as support our own School. Another tradition that happens mid-week is the banging of spoons at lunch. Each person in the dining hall receives a spoon at his/her place at their assigned table and the dining hall is filled with the clanging of metal on the wooden table tops. Chants and cheers pepping up students as well as faculty can be heard throughout the day.
"Shirts questioning Lawrenceville’s talent and proving Hill has what it takes to win are modeled as well as buttons that do the same. Finalizing the week is the pep rally, which is the most fun in my opinion! All varsity sports teams perform a skit that pumps up the fans in the stands. Loud music, dancing, and even talents are performed to get the students, faculty, and even some alumni excited!! MC’s and form relay races are fillers between these skits that make the pep rally into a game for the forms. Usually the sixth form is victorious in these races.
"With Saturday's games on the horizon, teams get ready to travel either to the far fields, or like this year, to Lawrenceville for the final game of the season. For some this is the game that matters the most, as the championship could be on the line. For field hockey, our season was 14-1 with the championship of the MAPL cup and the Hill-Lawrenceville Trophy at stake. We had won this title the last two years and were not willing to give it up. With a long 60 minutes of playing, Hill was victorious giving the MAPL title for three years in a row to The Hill School. This week/weekend is filled with fun events that pump up the student body for the games on Saturday."
