The rivalry between The Hill School and The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J. stands as one of the oldest continuous competitions between independent schools in this country. Since 1887, athletes from these two great schools have competed on fields, courts, diamonds, and tracks in a test of ability, courage, and spirit. Every year, the week leading up to the game bustles with excitement as Hill students carry on the School traditions by “passing the broom” each day during lunch announcements signifying sweeping victories over Lawrenceville and leading up to the Friday night “red meat dinner,” pep rally, and bonfire.
The weekend is a wonderful opportunity for alumni, parents, and friends to visit The Hill or travel to see our teams at Lawrenceville and cheer on our athletes. The weekend festivities include a pep rally and bonfire at home on Friday night and a continuous schedule of athletic events on Saturday afternoon. When The Hill is away, an alumni and parent refreshment tent is set up to provide beverages, snacks, and pins to dedicated Hill fans.
