Limited edition NC Wyeth prints now available

The Hill School is releasing limited edition prints of our N.C. Wyeth painting collection. These paintings were created by Wyeth to illustrate poems for the book "Poems of American Patriotism," edited by Brander Matthews in 1922. The collection was donated to The Hill in 1923 by Michael F. Sweeney, former coach and physical director from 1896-1936. Two prints will be issued to coincide with the biannual release of Hill Ties magazine (spring/summer and fall/winter).

The prints available at this time are "The Old Continentals" and "Washington Serving Liberty." Each print is approximately 11”x14” and matted to fit a standard 16”x20” frame (frame not included). Cost per print is $125 plus tax and shipping. More information about these prints is available here.

Prints may be purchased at on-line at The Hill School Campus Store or by contacting Diane Hughes and Bill Conrad in the Campus Store at 610-326-1000, ext. 7291.

The sale of the prints coincides with a special exhibit at the Farnsworth Art Museum's Wyeth Center in Rockland, Maine. Titled "N.C. Wyeth: Poems of American Patriotism," this exhibit will run from Saturday, May 15 through September 26. A Hill alumnus spoke to individuals at the Farnsworth about the paintings, which sparked plans for the exhibition.

The Hill School is pleased and honored to share its treasured collection of original N.C. Wyeth paintings used in "Poems of American Patriotism," published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1922. The Wyeth Center at the Farnsworth Art Museum is, of course, a most fitting place for the paintings' sojourn.

In conjunction with the exhibit, The Hill hosted a reception on June 17 at the Farnsworth Museum. All alumni, parents, and friends of The Hill were invited to attend. Read more about this special event.
