Located on the lower level of the Mercer Field House, Hill's fitness center (opened in 2004) includes a spacious cardio area with 20 new cardio vascular machines - including four Precor treadmills, four Precor elliptical machines, and one Cybex Arc Trainer elliptical machine – as well as four 28” television sets suspended from the ceiling. The TVs are equipped with a Broadcast Vision audio system, which allows cardio users to listen to the TV stations by plugging headphones into the units on each machine.
Other features of the facility include 17 pieces of Bodymasters strength training equipment; 2,800 lbs. of rubber coated grip plates (ranging in weight from 5 to 45 lbs.); bars; sets of dumbbells (5 lbs. to 100 lbs.) and new racks; and a vertical knee raise-and-dip apparatus. The new equipment will supplement the benches, racks, plates, bars, Smith machine, cable crossover machine, and five Hammer Strength machines from the old fitness center. The facility also includes an expansive stretching area with mats and exercise balls. In addition to the new equipment, the centrally-located fitness center features floor-length mirrors, air-conditioning, water fountain, new carpeting, and glass doors facing the field house and hallway.
