The Hill School is one of 26 independent schools in the United States to participate in the School Year Abroad (SYA) Program. Each year the SYA program allows 60 American students to live with European or Chinese families for a full year. SYA Schools are located in China, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, and Vietnam. While abroad, students earn U.S. graduation credits and receive extensive preparation for the challenges of college life. Students are required to have two years of study, if applying to France or Spain, in the country's native language. SYA accepts beginners both in the study of Mandarin, for the program in China, and Latin, for the Classics focused program in Italy.
