Led by junior Carter Rufe (Hill ’08), Lafayette College’s Men’s Golf team finished second out of 14 teams at the Lafayette Invitational, held April 9-10 at Center Valley Golf Club. Carter shot a four-under par 140 for the weekend to finish as the top individual player in the tournament, shooting a 3-under 69 on Saturday and a 1-under 71 on Sunday.
“This was not only my first collegiate tournament win, but the first tournament win in my brief career,” said Carter. “It was a great feeling. It felt like all of my hard work finally paid off, which was very rewarding. This win gives me a great boost of confidence, and I'm excited to get back out there and keep improving.”
Even more rewarding for Carter was his father, Jim Rufe ’77, being at the tournament to witness his first career win. “He has been my lifelong coach and mentor,” said Carter, “and as much is this has meant to me, I know that it meant the world to him.”
Congratulations and good luck in the rest of the season, Carter!
