Hill School student-athletes Kate Ferrara ’12 and Heather Morris ’13 were selected to the United States U19 Junior National Field Hockey team. The team was announced on USA Field Hockey’s website on Thursday, April 14. The team, which is comprised of girls from across the country, will train for two years and is planning a European tour before competing in the Junior Pan Am Indoor Cup in 2013.
For both Heather and Kate, making the team is the culmination of several years of hard work on and off the field.
“Making the indoor national team is surreal for me,” said Heather. “I have put so much hard work and effort into field hockey, and I finally feel like all my work has paid off. I’m very excited and grateful to be able to represent the United States in indoor field hockey.”
“I’m really excited about making the team,” said Kate, “and also honored to have the opportunity to wear the United States jersey.”
Head field hockey coach Meg Watson, who has coached Heather and Kate for the past two and three years, respectively, expressed lots of pride in the girls’ accomplishment.
“I’m thrilled for Kate and Heather’s accomplishment in making the U19 Junior National Indoor Team,” said the team’s head coach, Meg Watson. “Both girls are exceptionally talented, driven, and hardworking players whom I have enjoyed coaching. Their contributions to their Hill team have been tremendous and I look forward to watching them continue to grow as student-athletes in the future.”
Congratulations and good luck, Heather and Kate!
