| Week of May 22-28, 2011
|
| The week of May 22-28 was a busy week on the Hill campus, with several end-of-year activities throughout the week culminating with the 160th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 28. On Sunday, May 22, sixth form girls and the Women of The Hill attended the annual Sixth Form Tea, traditionally held the Sunday before Commencement. The Sixth Form Tea was first held in 2002 to celebrate the first class of girls who had been at the School for four years. Following the final seated dinner of the year on Tuesday, May 24, members of the faculty and the sixth form gathered in the Saunders Room for the final faculty coffee of the year, where the faculty read Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” to the sixth formers. Wednesday was the annual Strawberry Festival, with several activities including distribution of The Dial, the conclusion of the fitness challenge, the j-ball championship, a powder puff football game, inflatable games, and a cookout. The Women of The Hill sold strawberry shortcakes and raised proceeds for the Cluster Outreach of Pottstown. The Alumni Association brunch was held on Friday morning, in which the sixth formers were addressed by Dan ’01 and Shelly ’02 Gyves, and Bill Yinger ’95 before officially being inducted into The Hill School Alumni Association. Class Day exercises were held in the afternoon, where members of the sixth form were honored for their academic achievements from the 2010-11 school year. Finally, on Saturday, May 28, the sixth form participated in the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. |
