Girls' Tennis

The girls' tennis program began in the fall of 1998 when the school became a coeducational institution. The program consists of teams at the varsity and junior varsity levels. The varsity and JV teams practice simultaneously on the Beech Street courts, and the top JV players often get a chance to play a handful of varsity matches in doubles play throughout the season.

Played as a fall sport, the varsity schedule consists of between 15-18 matches. The Hill School is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Prep League, a six-team league consisting of boarding schools from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Our non-league schedule is comprised of teams from the Philadelphia Inter-Ac league, as well as schools from the Philadelphia Friends School League and a handful of opponents from New Jersey. We schedule a number of tough opponents in the beginning of the season to prepare for MAPL play, which begins in early October. Match format within the MAPL is the typical six singles, three doubles format played at the collegiate level. Non-league matches are generally played with five singles players and two doubles teams.
