Since the inaugural 1999 season, Hill girls’ lacrosse has been competitive both in the Philadelphia area and in our conference, the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL), winning the MAPL Championship in 2005 and 2007. Along with winning the league title twice, Hill competes against some of the best teams in our local area and on the east coast. Hill plays many of the Philadelphia Inter-Ac schools, the Delaware private school powerhouses and the elite lacrosse teams in Maryland. Since the programs inception, several players have gone on to play collegiate lacrosse at both the Division I and Division III level, including three players who won Division III National Championships with Franklin & Marshall. Many others have won their respective conferences and earned individual accolades across the lacrosse community.
The graduation of leading scorers Callie Francis '11 (Duke) and Megan Kelly '11 (Franklin & Marshall) as well as the entire starting defense has left the 2012 team with some big shoes to fill. Co-captains Cassidy Jemo '12 and Monica Patel '12 along with returning letter winner Kate Ferarra '12 will be called upon to lead the team offensively, and returning starting goalkeeper Kelsea LaSorda '12 will anchor a young defense. New players to watch include Maggie D'Aprix '13, Taylor Dunn '13, Cecelia Young '13, Liz Cossel '14, Alex Lange '14, and Libby Sitko '14. The team will face several strong tests in the early season that will have the girls' well prepared for MAPL competition, which begins in the second half of the season.
In addition to the varsity team, The Hill also fields a competitive junior varsity program that practices daily and has a full game schedule. Both varsity and junior varsity teams play a competitive schedule, including many private day schools in the Philadelphia area.
