Girls' Soccer at The Hill School

View schedule and recaps at bottom of page

Girls’ soccer at The Hill dates back to the fall of 1998, which was the school’s first year as a coeducational institution. The program offers two levels, varsity and JV, with experienced coaching staffs leading each team. The JV team plays a similar schedule to the varsity while focusing on developing foot skills and tactical awareness. Several varsity players compete for elite club teams in the offseason, allowing them to stay sharp year-round.

There are several soccer fields on campus, including a soccer specific, match-only pitch in the middle of campus that was remodeled for the 2013 season, making for ideal match conditions. The school’s facilities are comparable to collegiate facilities and afford our student-athletes the ability to train at a maximum level. Two turf fields were constructed in 2013 – while we primarily compete on natural grass, the option of utilizing turf is an ideal situation and places The Hill’s soccer facilities amongst the area’s best.

The Hill’s location in suburban-Philadelphia allows us to compete against some of the region’s best teams. We seek the best competition to become better ourselves. The Hill is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL), which also includes Blair Academy (NJ), The Hun School (NJ), Lawrenceville (NJ), Mercersburg Academy (PA), and Peddie School (NJ).  Non-league competition features teams from the Philadelphia Inter-Ac League, the Philadelphia Friends League, and a handful of schools from New Jersey. The Hill also is a member of the Pennsylvania Independent School Athletic Association (PAISAA), which became an officially sanctioned league in 2011. At the season’s conclusion, Hill competes in the PAISAA State Championship Tournament, comprised of that season’s 16 best independent school teams in the state. Hill won the first two PAISAA Championships in 2011 and 2012.

Several Hill girls’ soccer players have gone on to play collegiately at both the Division I and Division III levels for schools such as Columbia University, Wake Forest University, Princeton University, the University of Delaware, The United States Naval Academy, Trinity College, Franklin and Marshall College, and Juniata College. Coach Wann, along with assistant coaches Neese, Dauphinais, and Summers, focus on developing each players technical skills, tactical understanding, and leadership potential. Perhaps more importantly, the coaches teach the importance of hard work, dedication, and discipline, as well as seeing the fun in the game.
