Saturday Morning and Afternoon Activities
On Saturday morning and afternoon of Reunion Weekend, alumni and their families had many activities to enjoy including a talk by Willis Pierre, 5K Fun Run, faculty information session, Hillbackers meeting, Family Festival, athletics, and more.
Willis Pierre, Hill mathematics faculty emeritus, presented a wonderful illustrated lecture in the Widener Science Building library about Hill’s buildings, past and current. Willis is a font of information: He has conducted extensive research not only about our structures but also concerning the anecdotal stories behind their use and inhabitants throughout Hill history.
He shared a wealth of knowledge ranging from the fact that the current music house once served as a stable, and that the former Middle School building was the first school residence hall in the country to offer both hot and cold running water and electricity in each room. The Science Library was packed as his multigenerational audience learned the behind-the-scenes stories about our beautiful campus.
Members of the class of 1958 enjoyed two special activities on Saturday with two former faculty members. Alex Revell '43, former Hill master of English, led a book discussion with the class. In the afternoon, there was a special viewing a the 1957 Hill vs. Lawrenceville football game and a phone call with Frank Bissell, former Hill director of athletics.
During the afternoon, a Family Festival was held on the Quad. Children of alumni and Hill faculty enjoyed snow cones, balloon animals, a moon bounce, a magic show by the "Great Drewdini" (recent Hill graduate Drew Skitko '08), puppet show, and a live animal show with birds of prey.
Despite the heat, many alumni ventured to the tennis courts, fields, and pool for afternoon athletics. Lacrosse, baseball, and water polo games were in full swing for the duration of the day.
