The Hill School Department of Science
Students work on a physics lab with Dr. Josh Schmidt
The science curriculum builds students' skills as scientific thinkers and analytic problem-solvers, exciting them about the field and preparing them for the rigors of college-level study. Just as important as classroom instruction are weekly double lab periods, limited to no more than 16 students, which allow time for applying concepts hands-on and learning to work cooperatively in small groups. Teachers make use of the latest technology to enhance this learning experience. In fact, teachers consistently provide students with a context for the concepts and principles they are learning by bringing in examples of current trends and discoveries in the field. By offering
biology
,
chemistry
, and
physics
in that order the science department feels it best accomplishes its student preparation.
