May 25-26 marks The Hill's 161st Commencement Weekend
 
 
The Hill School's celebration of its 161st Commencement Weekend will be held Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26, 2012. A general schedule for the weekend includes:
 
9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.


Sixth Form Alumni Association Induction Brunch in the Dining Hall

2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Legacy Tea in the Memorial Room
4 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Class Day Exercises in the CFTA Theatre
5:45 p.m. Sixth Form Photo on the CFTA Patio
5:45 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Commencement Dinner in the Dining Hall (Sixth Formers, faculty, spouses, and guests)

7:30 p.m. Spring play The Crucible in the CFTA
8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Continental Breakfast on the Student Center Patio
9:30 a.m.  Baccalaureate Service in Alumni Chapel (Chapel will open at 9:00 a.m.)
11:30 a.m. Commencement in the Old Hockey Rink (Opens at 10:30 a.m.)
1 to 2:15 p.m. Commencement Luncheon in the Dining Hall and Courtyard
 
Hill will welcome Colleen Gulick ’09 as this year’s speaker at the Alumni Induction Brunch on Friday morning. Colleen is a starting back for the reigning NCAA Division I Champion field hockey team at The University of Maryland, and is a tremendously accomplished cyclist. She currently is the sixth-ranked female cyclist in the nation in her age group (20-29); is a three-time national champion; and recently finished first in her age group and third overall at a USA CRITS race. In addition to excelling athletically, Colleen, who is a bioengineering major, has done well in the classroom and aspires to be an orthopedic surgeon. She was featured in the April, 2012 edition of Glamour magazine as one of the “Top 10 College Women of 2012.”
 
During the Baccalaureate service, which will take place in the Alumni Chapel at 9:30 a.m., Headmaster David R. Dougherty will address the members of the class of 2012 and their parents. The Commencement ceremony, which will begin at 11:30 a.m., will take place in the Old Hall Hockey Rink. This year’s Commencement address will be offered by Headmaster Dougherty and Kay Dougherty, both of whom will retire from The Hill School on June 30 after 19 years of distinguished service.
