The Hill School is pleased to announce the boys’ ice hockey program as a founding member of the Two Nations Prep Hockey League (TNPHL) effective for the 2022-2023 season.
The TNPHL was established in 2022 with a total of eight founding prep school members from the United States and Canada. The members include The Hill School, Pottstown, Pa.; Nichols School, Buffalo, N.Y.; The Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, N.J.; Albany Academy, Albany, N.Y.; Ridley College, St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada; Stanstead College, Stanstead, Quebec, Canada; Upper Canada College, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Bishop’s College School, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
The mission of the TNPHL is to provide student-athletes with the necessary resources, support, and quality exposure needed to pursue their academic and athletic aspirations. Each team is to play 10 league games per season, participate in a league showcase, and compete in a championship game weekend.
Sean O’Brien P '24 '25, Hill’s Director of Ice Hockey, Head Varsity Boys’ Ice Hockey Coach, and Assistant Director of Athletics, played a pivotal role in the formation of the TNPHL and is excited to join the seven other schools in league play.
“Every game will be competitive and provide our players an elite platform to maximize their overall development while competing for a league championship at the same time,” states O’Brien.
Wilbur C. Riley Director of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities Seth Eilberg P '22 '23 '25 is grateful for O’Brien and his coaching staff for helping to organize the TNPHL. The creation of this league is consistent with the goals set forth by Hill’s Athletics Department, which includes continuing to challenge our student-athletes in competition.
“We are excited that it will give our hockey players maximum exposure and a chance to play for a championship each season,” commented Eilberg.
“We also are also eager to form a similar league for our girls’ hockey program and are actively working to identify the right schools and programs to partner with to make that a reality very soon,” Eilberg continued.
The Hill School will face off against Lawrenceville for their first TNPHL game at Hill on December 7, 2022.
