Hill Community “Thinks Pink” During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

On Friday, October 25, The Hill community participated in the “Think Pink” event hosted by the Breast Cancer Awareness Club to raise awareness and show support for those who have been affected by the disease. Led by Avery Cohen ’26, the club holds events that fundraise for different breast cancer-based non-profits, including the National Cancer Society. Cohen explained why she felt so strongly about leading the club, “One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. I think it’s an extremely important cause and I just want to help in any way I can.” The club is made up of 30 students, most of whom personally know someone who has had breast cancer. The goal of the group is to spread awareness, support, and educate Hill about the disease.

The “Think Pink” event included a School-wide pink out where all members of the Hill community were encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During the day, students tie-dyed socks pink, made friendship bracelets, and wrote letters to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with words of encouragement. At night, the “Kick Cancer” event was held where, for a small admission fee, attendees could try to score a point on a member of Hill’s girls soccer team. If they made the shot, they got the chance to pie the player.

All proceeds went to Unite for HER, a non-profit organization based out of Malvern, Pa. Unite for HER allows access for breast cancer and ovarian cancer patients to healing integrative therapies. The club hosts several other events through the year including “Skate Against Cancer” and “Pink in the Rink”, both held during the winter.
