The Hill School is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Tamburro has been named Interim Head Field Hockey Coach. Coach Tamburro has served as an assistant coach at Hill for the past two seasons. She joined Hill after an incredible playing career spanning club, collegiate, international, and professional levels. Coach Tamburro is joined by Assistant Coach Gabby Gomez Sosa P'27, who is entering her eighth season with the team. She served as Hill's Interim Head Coach in 2023 and is in her second season on the WC Eagles coaching staff.

 

"Hill is very fortunate to have coaches of Coach Tamburro and Coach Gomez Sosa's caliber to steward the program during this critical time," noted Bill Stiles, Hill's Wilbur C. Riley Director of Athletics. "They understand the field hockey program’s proud tradition and culture and, as full-time faculty members, are uniquely committed to the experience and growth of our students. They will continue to provide stability, continuity, and leadership to the program during this period and beyond."

 

Coach Tamburro's playing career started at WC Eagles Field Hockey Club, where she played and coached for more than 20 years. She went on to become a four-year starter and two-year captain at Ohio State University before playing professionally and coaching for Atlètic Terrassa Hockey Club in Spain for six seasons. Coach Tamburro continues to represent the USA Indoor National Team as a player and interim team manager while recovering from an injury. With Team USA, she won the 2024 Pan American Cup in Canada, played in the 2023 World Cup in South Africa, and the 2025 World Cup in Croatia, along with several of our recent HFHF graduates.

 

Coach Tamburro replaces Katherine Bowie, who led the team for two seasons (2024-25 and 2025-26) and departed Hill to pursue another opportunity closer to her family. Her career at Hill included two MAPL championships and a 2024 PAISAA Championship win over Academy of Notre Dame.
