Financial aid at Hill is need-based and designed to expand access while helping ensure that cost is not a barrier for qualified students to receive a transformative educational experience.

What Does Tuition Include?

Boarding student tuition for the 2026-27 academic year ($81,040) includes all instruction, room and board, on-campus events, health services at the Wellness Center, and some athletics equipment. Day student tuition for the 2026-27 academic year ($54,980) includes all instruction and on-campus events, as well as lunch every day except Sunday.

Students must pay for their textbooks and supplies. However, students receiving financial aid receive support for purchasing their laptops. Some elective courses, athletics activities, music instruction, and other programs may also require additional fees.

Applying for Financial Aid

New and Prospective Families

Families who have a child (or children) applying to The Hill School for admission should follow these two steps to complete their application for Financial Aid:

1. Complete and submit your financial aid application by January 15, 2027 | Families can access this process by visiting Clarity, our new partner for the financial aid application process, beginning on September 1, 2026. Note: If you have multiple children applying for admission, you only need to submit one financial aid application for your family.

2. Follow the instructions provided by Clarity to submit/upload any additional tax documents | 1040 and W2s (for 2025) can be automatically pulled in by Clarity. However, additional tax documents that may pertain to your specific circumstances (business/corporation ownership, farms, etc.) should also be uploaded by January 15, 2027.

If you need support during the application process, Clarity offers in-app support through the “Help” button located at the bottom left of the screen, as well as email and phone support at support@clarityapp.com or 206-210-3752 (available in both English and Spanish).

Returning/Currently Enrolled Families

Returning Families who wish to continue receiving financial aid must submit a financial aid application each year that a child(ren) is enrolled at The Hill School. Please follow these steps to submit your information for consideration:

1. Complete and submit your financial aid application by January 15, 2027 | Families can access this process by visiting Clarity.

Note: If your family does not currently receive financial aid, but you wish to submit an application, you must contact Chris Bala, Director of Financial Aid, at cbala@thehill.org for additional information.

The Hill School is fully committed to providing financial aid to a family for the duration of their time at Hill. However, our Committee reevaluates each family's circumstances each year to review the information submitted on their application as part of determining a family's demonstrated need. Financial aid awards typically increase from year to year, but the same is typically true for a family's tuition contribution because our overall tuition will also increase. Please note that any family that fails to submit the required documentation before our deadline risks our Financial Aid Committee denying their request for the upcoming school year.

Important Dates to Consider

September 1, 2026

Families may begin to access the financial aid application process offered by Clarity.

January 15, 2027

All families (new/prospective and returning/currently enrolled) must complete and submit their applications through Clarity. If applicable, additional tax documents must also be uploaded; please consult your Clarity application process to determine whether these forms apply to your family's circumstances.

March 1, 2027

Returning/Currently Enrolled families (in good standing with our Business Office) will receive their re-enrollment contract. This contract will include the 2027-28 financial aid determination. The Hill School utilizes an entirely online process for re-enrollment; additional information and instructions for accessing, reviewing, and executing your re-enrollment contract will be communicated before March 1, 2027.

March 10, 2027

Admission notification date for New/Prospective applicants. Financial aid determinations will also be shared with families on this date (in the same online portal where their admission decision appears). Information on how to access this portal will have been provided to families once their child(ren) submit their application.

April 1, 2027

Response deadline for Returning/Currently Enrolled families to reserve their child(ren)'s place at Hill for the 2027-28 academic year. Returning families who have received a financial aid award risk forfeiting their award if they do not contact us by this date.

April 10, 2027

Response deadline for New/Prospective families to reserve your child(ren)'s place at Hill for the 2027-28 academic year. Families who have received a financial aid award along with their offer of admission risk forfeiting their award if they do not contact us by this date.
