I love Hill because of its close-knit, supportive community. I can truly say that I feel at home here. Everyone - students and faculty alike - is so nice and welcoming and comforting, and they all genuinely care about you and your wellbeing. We all want each other to succeed and grow, not just in the classroom but in the world in general. I couldn’t imagine myself going to school, let alone living anywhere else. It may sound cliché, but Hill truly is The Family Boarding School.
Favorite Hill memory or tradition: My favorite tradition is seated meals, especially lunches. Not only is it a great way to become closer with students and faculty you may not have otherwise known, but it also is a great time to connect with teammates or fellow thespians. I also love spoon banging during Hill vs. Lawrenceville Weekend and having Family Nights in the dorm every Tuesday night.
Classes/teachers that have influenced you in some way: During my third form year I took Class Piano, which was my first time playing piano. Not only did I absolutely love learning to play an instrument, but I also loved my amazing teacher, Mrs. Neiswender. My math teacher, Mr. Gettings, is hands-down the best math teacher I’ve ever had! He made math - a subject I’ve never particularly liked - one of the best experiences I’ve had in any classroom. Lastly, it would be very remiss of me not to mention the greatest biology class the world of education has ever seen. Ms. Weissbach - and every student in my third form biology class - made that the best class of the year for me.
