Holiday Greetings from The Hill Alumni Association Executive Committee

Dear Hill Alumni,

The members of the Alumni Association Executive Committee send our happiest holiday greetings and deepest thanks for Hill ties that never sever.  Those ties were so important and so appreciated in 2020.

Our doors are open!” was a challenging theme defined by a spring term pivot to virtual learning, months of careful planning, and a successful fall term.    Faculty, staff, and students dug deep to strengthen our great School.  Each person played an essential role keeping community members safe, healthy, and in-touch while our faculty passionately (and creatively) delivered distinctive learning experiences for every Hill student.  I am in awe and deeply grateful.

Our Alumni doors were open, too!   We used new ways to stay in touch with alumni around the world through virtual events, the lived-streamed Tom Ruth Speaker Series, and class Zooms.  Alumni came forward eager to improve The Hill School experience for black students and alumni.  Dason (Devon) Carmichael ’10 and Leah Proctor-Ford ’14 are leading the newly formed Hill Black Alumni Affiliate Group.  Class volunteers hosted Zoom happy hours and regional events.  Importantly, we stayed in touch during a year when we all needed to hear from classmates and life-long friends.

The Executive Committee looks ahead to 2021 with hope, optimism, and ambition with two requests:

First, please take five minutes to fill out The Hill Alumni Survey. This is your “virtual” homework assignment!  We want to address the needs and expectations of our alumni.  Your views will challenge the Executive Committee and inform plans for the new year.

Second (and just as important), please make Hill a meaningful part of the new year.  Promise yourself that you'll return to campus for your Class Reunion, a sporting event, a CFTA performance, or a stroll by the Dell as soon as we get the all clear.

I wish you all the best for a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2021.  I look forward to seeing you.

Go Hill!
Wallace
