Dance
The Hill School’s dance program continues to expand as it enters its ninth year as part of the arts curriculum. Led by Laura Johnson, a respected local dance instructor, the program welcomes dancers of all levels and abilities to participate in the Hill School Dance Department.Throughout the academic year, students explore a wide range of dance techniques, including but not limited to ballet, jazz, modern, tap, and hip hop. The program offers a minimum of three performance opportunities annually, presented as dance recitals in the school’s fully equipped Center for the Arts. Classes are held in Hill’s professionally furnished dance studio, providing an ideal environment for instruction and practice.
Students enrolled in the program develop skills in coordination, flexibility, movement memory, stage direction, and dance vocabulary. In addition, dancers are encouraged to pursue their own choreographic interests through independent study projects.
