Both The Hill varsity field hockey and boys’ soccer teams were in action at the Far Fields on Tuesday, November 5 against Germantown Academy in the Pennsylvania Independent School Athletic Association (PAISAA) playoffs; for field hockey, the team’s first-ever berth in the PAISAA Championship was at stake, while boys’ soccer was playing to advance to the semifinal.
On Briggs S. Cunningham ’26 ’50 Field, Josephine Palde ’21 scored a pair of goals as Hill defeated the Patriots 2-0, while a 55th-minute tally from Kyle Sullivan ’21 stood as the match-winner in a 2-1 boys’ soccer victory.
The field hockey team now has one week to prepare for the championship game against Episcopal Academy, which defeated Academy of Notre Dame de Namur 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal. Hill and Episcopal previously played each other in Hill’s season-opening game on September 4, a thrilling 3-2 victory for Hill over a Churchwomen team which was ranked fourth in the nation at the time. The game is scheduled for 2:00 PM at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa. on Villanova University’s field.
Meanwhile, it will be a quick turnaround for boys’ soccer as Hill hosts Kiski School on Thursday, November 7 in the PAISAA semifinal. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Harry L. Price Field. Hill and Kiski previously met on September 6, a 2-0 victory for Hill. Local Live will be streaming the match for those who are unable to attend.
