For four seasons, Jon McKee sat in the bleachers at Jim Long Field watching his daughter Kyli ’17 and the Hill softball team, culminating with the team’s trip to the final of the 2017 Pennsylvania Independent School Athletic Association (PAISAA) Tournament.

Beginning in the spring of 2022, McKee will assume a different vantage point for Hill Softball games.  On May 17, Director of Athletics Seth Eilberg introduced McKee as the new head softball coach.

McKee replaces Becca Shipper ’14, who will depart Hill to pursue a Ph.D. at the conclusion of the academic year.

"I am honored to be taking over the helm of the Hill softball program,” McKee said.  “I look forward to working with the great student-athletes at The Hill and working to build a program that will be competitive in both the MAPL conference as well as the local PAISAA schools.  As a parent of a 2017 Hill softball alum, I have experienced many of the great rivalry games and traditions the MAPL conference provides and eagerly await experiencing them from the dugout. Having been actively involved in the local Pottstown community for many years, I look forward to utilizing my position as head coach along with the Hill's support to continue to promote softball and the Hill's relationship with its surrounding community."

For nearly 20 years, McKee has coached various levels of softball with local organizations.  He began coaching Little League baseball in 1995 but then transitioned to softball in 2004.  McKee coached in the Pottstown Little League from 2004 until 2012, when he became a head coach in the Sanatoga Scream organization.  Currently the Head Coach of the Scream’s 14U team, McKee has also been a head coach for the Scream’s 12U, 16U, and 18U teams, including four seasons as the 18U coach.

Outside of the travel ball realm, McKee coached at Pottstown High School for three seasons.  He was a volunteer coach in 2017 and then became head coach in 2018, a role he held for three seasons.
