The Hill School is pleased to announce that Mike Boyer P '25 has been named as the School’s new Head Football Coach. Boyer arrived at Hill in 2022 as the Associate Head Football Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and College Counselor. He has served as the Acting Head Coach since December.

“Since Mike assumed the role of acting head coach, I have sensed a palpable excitement in the program, and I am very excited for the potential for Hill Football under his permanent leadership,” notes Wilbur C. Riley Director of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities Seth Eilberg P '22 '23 '25.

Boyer has more than 25 years of experience as a football coach and educator. Before joining Hill in 2022, he had spent the past 13 years as an Assistant Football Coach at Albright College in Reading, Pa.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to carry on the well-established tradition of this historic football program, and now lead the young men who represent it,” Boyer states. “This is a year of ‘newness’ on The Hill. We have a new head of school, a new football stadium, a new head football coach, and new and exciting days ahead for The Hill Football program.”

During his tenure at Albright, Boyer helped lead the team to a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) title in 2015, where they advanced to the second round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) playoffs. In 2016, Albright secured a MAC-Centennial Bowl Championship title, and, in 2017, the team earned a slot in the MAC-Centennial Bowl for a second straight season.

From 2002-07, Coach Boyer was the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at nearby Boyertown Area High School. In 2006, the team clinched their first league championship in school history when they won the Pioneer Athletic Conference (PAC) 10 championship. That same year, the offensive unit recorded the most points ever under Coach Boyer’s leadership.

Prior to his time at Boyertown Area High School, Coach Boyer was the Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach at Exeter Senior High School from 1994-1998. The team won the league championship in 1997 and they were first team in school history to qualify for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District 3 playoffs.

With Boyer taking over at the helm at Hill, Ron Zeiber, a veteran local football coach and teacher, will join the team as the new the Defensive Coordinator for the 2023 football season. Zeiber will be a familiar face to Boyer on the sidelines, as they coached together at Albright College.

“We are excited that Coach Zeiber will join the coaching staff and head up our defense,” Eilberg comments. “He values education-based athletics and has had a lot of success as a football coach. I am grateful that he will be able to share all those experiences with our players and coaching staff.”

Zeiber has more than 25 years of football coaching experience, serving as an assistant and head coach at local public school football programs. Under his leadership, Exeter Township High School won the Berks Inter-County League Championship and qualified for the District Three playoffs twice. As the head coach at Boyertown High School, Zeiber led the team to its first PAC-10 title and first District 1-AAAA playoff berth. At Hempfield High School, he led the team to the District Three playoffs six times in his 9-year tenure, as well as the district semifinals twice.

“I am thrilled to be able to coach with Ron again,” Boyer reflects. “He was a mentor for me as a young coach and I will look for his mentorship again with my new role as a head coach. Ron has found success at every level he has coached, and I look forward to him helping bring success to Hill Football.”
