Trey Hicks '21, a junior at Longwood University, was featured in The Athletic for his performance in the Big South Championship men's basketball game against University of North Carolina Asheville on March 10, 2024.

Hicks selflessly relinquished his opportunity for a medical redshirt year, opting to step onto the court when a teammate was sidelined due to injury. In a remarkable display of teamwork and dedication, Trey not only prioritized his team's needs but also contributed significantly to their success. He scored the final points that propelled Longwood to an 85-59 victory in the Big South Championship, securing their ticket to the men's NCAA Division I Tournament (March Madness).
