After two days of spirited competition, the varsity boys’ ice hockey team returned to campus on Sunday, February 18 as the winners of the 2024 Two Nations Prep Hockey League (TNPHL) Championship. The championship was held at Princeton University at the Hobey Baker Memorial Rink in New Jersey.
The 2024 TNPHL playoffs unfolded between Hill’s Edward Tuck Hall Arena and Thomas Eccleston Jr. Rink as well as The Lawrenceville School’s Loucks Ice Center in Lawrenceville, New Jersey from February 16-18. The TNPHL comprises distinguished academic institutions from both Canada and the United States. Representing the U.S. are The Hill School, Nichols School, The Lawrenceville School, and Albany Academy. Canada is represented by Ridley College, Stanstead College, Bishop’s College School, and Upper Canada College.
The Hill School faced off against their first opponent of the playoff weekend on February 16. At the end of three 18-minute periods, Hill walked away victorious over Bishop’s College School with a 5-3 final score.
On February 17, in the TNPHL semifinals against the Nichols School, Hill dominated the game with four goals to Nichols’ one. This victory paved the way for Hill to advance to the championship against Stanstead College at Princeton University.
The two teams met for the first time in the playoffs on the ice the following day. Hill exhibited unwavering determination as the team scored six goals on Stanstead, tallying a 6-3 final score, and clinching the 2024 TNPHL championship title.
