The Hill School Athletics Hall of Fame spotlights the very best of the many remarkable individuals and teams from The Hill School’s storied past, linking the past to the present and inspiring current Hill student-athletes, coaches, and teams to further greatness.

Announcing The Athletics Hall of Fame 2023 Induction Class

During the Alumni Winter Games on Saturday, January 7, Hill School Director of Athletics Seth Eilberg P ’22 ’23 ’25 announced the Hill Athletics Hall of Fame 2023 Induction Class, which includes five athletes, two teams, one coach, one Extraordinary Sports Achievement inductee, and one Willis J. Pierre Memorial Hall inductee.

Congratulations to the 2023 Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class: Athlete: James Biggs '58 GP'22; Athlete: James (Sandy) Van Kennen '62; Athlete: Theodore (Teddy) van Beuren '01;  Athlete: Shannon (Summers) Zwoyer '05; Athlete: Deanna Mayza '13; Coach: Mark Nelson P'10 '13; Team: 1984-1985 Water Polo; Team: 2001-2002 Field Hockey; Extraordinary Sports Achievement: Willem (Butch) van Breda Kolff '41; and Willis J. Pierre Memorial Hall: Harvey Hurd Lord 1899. Read more about the inductees.

The 2023 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, November 3, the night before the 136th anniversary of The Hill vs. Lawrenceville rivalry games. Complete information and event registration will be available closer to the date.

Founders' Hall

In the inaugural year (2012), a special “Founders’ Hall” was inducted for those uncontestable, legendary and/or posthumous coaches, alumni and Hill administrators that had significant impact on Hill athletics. The Founders’ Hall was a one-time, distinct class induction celebrated at the inaugural induction ceremony in January 2013. Read more.
 

Centennial Hall

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Alumni Association’s formation, the Alumni Centennial Hall was created as a one-time recognition class honoring 13 of the greatest Hill School teams from the first half-century of the Alumni Association’s existence. Read More.

The Frank S. Bissell ’33 Hall was established to honor all 17 of Hill’s National Prep championship-winning teams. Read More.
