The Hill School is a strong, compassionate, and supportive family community where the faculty genuinely knows each student. It is a place where students are challenged to grow and achieve things they never thought possible.
A close-knit, family environment is the hallmark of our diverse, global community. Daily family-style meals, family night in the dormitories, our traditional dress code, the Honor Code, and weekly Chapel meetings are just a few examples of what define and distinguish The Hill’s community. Traits like generosity, curiosity, emotional intelligence, listening, empathy, respectfulness, and kindness are evident in each Hill student.Typical Day of a Hill School Boarding Student:
8:25 a.m. First class of the day begins
9:45 a.m. Attend Chapel with all students and faculty and then enjoy a snack and conversation with your advisory group (Monday/Friday).
10:30 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Attend morning classes or meet with a teacher for extra help during the Flex Period.
12:10 p.m. All students and faculty gather in the Dining Hall for seated lunch
12:57 to 3:30 p.m. Final classes of the day. Hang out with friends or catch up on homework during a free period
4 p.m. Afternoon activities begin (athletics, theatre rehearsal, Community Service, Afternoon Arts, etc.)
6 p.m. Meet up with friends during dinner in the Dining Hall
7:30 p.m. Check-in for evening study hall (boarding students). Go to the library for group work or extra help from a teacher.
9:30 p.m. Study hall ends. Enjoy time with dormmates before lights out.
11 p.m. Lights out
*Classes meet for two 73-minute blocks and one 45-minute class period each week. On Wednesdays, the academic day ends after lunch. There is extra time in the afternoon for co-curriculars and travel for athletics. View the academic schedule.
