Campus Life
December 17 to 20, 2018

It was a short week on campus as members of The Hill community looked ahead to the holiday break! Throughout the week, students celebrated the holiday season with adviser groups and with friends in the dorms. On Monday, December 17, 46 Hill students competed in the DECA District 8 Competition held in King of Prussia, Pa. From the group, 35 Hill students qualified to compete in the DECA State Competition that will be held in Hershey, Pa. in March.

Students filed into the Dining Hall for seated lunch on Wednesday, December 19 dressed unusually. Many had on “ugly” Christmas sweaters and others were dressed like Santa Clause or wore other festive attire. The reason? The annual Secret Santa gift exchange! Each student is paired with another student and is tasked with subtly finding out that student’s interests and purchasing a small, inexpensive gift for that student.

Also on Wednesday, a group of students traveled to the nearby Manatawny Manor senior living facility to spread holiday cheer. The group of “elves” spent the afternoon wrapping presents, singing carols, and getting to know the manor’s residents.

A busy Wednesday concluded with the traditional Sixth Form Caroling. Enthusiastic sixth formers, along with Headmaster and Mrs. Lehman, braved the cold to gather around the new Class of 2018 Fire Pit to sing holiday songs and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.

Students departed on Thursday afternoon for the holiday break. Classes will resume in the New Year on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.
