Student Life

Hill School students cheering

Our community fosters an environment where you will gain confidence, develop resilience, and grow in empathy. For generations, Hill has cultivated a culture where students are genuinely known, not only because we are intentionally smaller than most schools, but also because nearly every aspect of daily life is designed to bring students and faculty together.

Residential Life

Did you know? Hill is one of the few schools where every student must board for at least one year.  Here, a dormitory is more than a place where students sleep at the end of a busy day. Students live with peers from across the country and around the world. Whether through the weekly dorm meetings, lively Family Nights, or daily interaction with peers and adults, students make lifelong friends and learn important life skills in the process. Best of all, some of the most memorable, positive, and fun experiences happen within the dormitories!

Traditions That Bring Us Together

Student Center & Grille

The Student Center and Grille is the hub of student life at The Hill School. Located on the lower level of the Athey Academic Center, it's where day and boarding students gather to socialize between classes and throughout the academic day and evening.

Students can grab sandwiches, snacks, coffee, and other refreshments, or settle into the lounge chairs to relax or catch up on work or talk with friends. With a large-screen television, pool table, ping-pong, and spaces for group study, the Center also serves as the main venue for campus activities like student band concerts, board game and trivia nights, karaoke, and watch parties for major sporting events such as the Super Bowl and World Series.
