Dining at Hill

The Millhiser Family Dining Room is a central gathering space on The Hill School’s campus and is emblematic of The Family Boarding School ideal. For more than a century, Hill students have used this space to connect during seated meals, build rapport with teachers and advisers, bond with teammates, and gather with classmates and friends after a long day. Although not a formal classroom setting, the Dining Room is a key space for learning enduring life lessons.

The Hill School community gathers each weekday for a family-style lunch. Seated meals encourage communal life and create opportunities for new friendships to form and existing ones to be strengthened. Seated meals are held every weekday at lunch, along with several special seated dinners throughout the year.

Most students are assigned to new tables every six weeks for seated meals, allowing them to interact with different people and form new friendships. It is a tradition for all varsity sports teams and theatre students currently practicing together to sit at the same table in the Dining Room to strengthen relationships throughout their season.

In addition to formal meals, the Dining Room is a place where traditions such as the annual Hill vs. L'Ville Red Meat Dinner and the Hill-o-Ween seated dinner are celebrated.

Dining Services

The Hill School's Dining Services team (Sodexo) prides itself on the variety and quality of the food it serves to our students. Our goal is to make every meal memorable by serving a diverse and innovative menu that meets the needs of both our students and faculty members. From action stations where dishes are made to order and daily vegan and vegetarian selections to a full salad bar with fresh vegetables, home-style dishes, desserts, and more, we strive to offer choices to meet a range of tastes and dietary needs.
